Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.
The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.
For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.

This is a classic so they really should make it available in more formats. Can anyone help me with if this book is useful for someone interested in running Vampire: The Masquerade rather than The Requium? This is very helpful in running basically anything that involves cities. All rules obviously speak of Requiem but it should be easy enough to convert it and New Castle is my favourite modern city that I not only use in Vampire games.
I wish to add my voice to the chorus. Bookmarks are a must and I would love to see this as a POD. Did this ever get updated with bookmarks? Considering purchasing but as it stands, I'd rather just refer to my hardcover if there's no bookmarks in the digital version.
Why does this not exists as a hardcover? All other books looks like a real ebook. This look like just a poor scan quality book. The downloads for this book now include three versions: one where the book is divided into two halves, and then two versions that contain the whole book. Since this is such a large book, I understand splitting it into two files, but does anyone know the difference between the two whole-book versions?
There's definitely a difference in quality, but what about content? Does one have errata or something, or maybe they just forgot to remove the lesser-quality version? Lesser quality ones are more friendly for personal reading devices, like say, a kindle or an iPad.

Managing a city is quite a task and, honeslty, some details can easily escape your attention. The guidelines and tips that this book gives are mostly easy and quick to implement so I'm finding myself consult [ Michael P. White wolf rocks, so does the new World of Darkness. Sourcebooks are the bomb, like Damnation City - they add a lot of depth to the game, and that's what makes the game the shiz!
